Pine Knoll Shores

Developed by heirs of Theodore Roosevelt, this Bogue Banks town is much honored for it's ecologically sensitive planning for growth. Resorts, vacation homes and condos are nestled ocean-side and sound-side, coexisting with the dense, green maritime forest. There's a wonderful stretch of white sand beach.

On-land activities and water sports are available, a few with in the town limits and others nearby. So, vacationers who choose accommodations here won't feel deprived of opportunities for golf, tennis, fishing, boating and dining.

Other nearby attractions include: The NC Aquarium in Pine Knoll Shores, the historic site of a sunken Confederate blockade runner (it's outline is still visible at low tide), and the historic marker identifying the site of one of the first landings in the New World.
